Black Leather Jackets are Best for Bikers

When asked to think about a biker in your mind, you probably picture a person sitting on a motorcycle in a black leather jacket. Bikers and black leather jackets always seem to go together. Black leather jackets provide the best of both worlds for bikers. They give the biker a stylish look while also shielding themselves from injury.

More than likely most motorcyclists will be wearing black leather jackets when you see groups of them going down the highway. Or if you attend a biker event like Bike Week in Daytona, it will seem like all you see is black leather. It isn't only leather jackets that bikers love. Black leather pants, gloves and boots are also very frequent among this crowd.

No one doubts that the 'biker look' is very cool. In fact, some people copy the look even if they don't own or ride motorcycles! But wearing black leather jackets is not just about 'the look." This is one piece of clothing that just could protect a biker from serious scrapes and injury.

Riding down the highway at 70 mph, exposed to the wind and outdoors, is a good way to be pelted with bugs and other road debris. Think of how the front grill on your car looks sometimes. Have you ever stuck your arm out of the car window as you zoomed down the open road? If so, you probably felt pricks and nicks as bugs and little rocks hit your skin. When going that fast, even little bugs can sting. A good leather jacket helps to protect bikers from that annoyance.

In addition, if the unthinkable does happen and the biker spills his bike onto the pavement, the biker will have some protection. The protection of the black leather jacket against his skin just could save him from losing the skin on his arms or at least making the injury less severe than it might have otherwise been.

A black leather jacket is no suit of armor, but it does offer some level of protection while motorcycling. Leather has been used for countless years as a form of protection during many of mankind's pursuits so it was only expected for it to carry over into biker culture. Now the black leather jacket and biker look has become identical with a bold and tough lifestyle.

Leather jackets also provide a way for bikers to show brand loyalty such as with Harley Davidson. Harley makes a line of leather jackets as do most other prominent companies that cater to the biking community. The only other thing that contends black leather jackets in association with bikers is Harley Davidson motorcycles. So you can imagine, black leather jackets made by Harley Davidson are quite sought after among both bikers and non bikers alike. As you can see, black leather jackets give a biker both deserved style and necessary protection.
