Barbados was discovered by the Portuguese and is a coral island located east of the Caribbean Sea. It is said that the name ‘Barbados’ means bearded-ones but there is disagreements on where the name actually came from. Some think it was named after a fig tree’s long hanging roots and some propose it is named after the foam spraying over the reefs in the structure of a beard.

If you want to explore the exotic island of Barbados there are many ways you can do so, taking a helicopter flight is just one of the ways where you can see the islands seashore and countryside from a bird’s eye view, a spectacular part to your holiday.

On your vacation to the sultry island of Barbados scuba diving is a must. You will get the prospect to explore the underwater world and swim with tropical fishes and turtles, or snorkel on the many coral reefs that surround the island. However if you prefer to keep your head above water you can spend some time looking at the selection of boat cruises and trips that are offered, where you can relax and take pleasure in the trip of a lifetime while you can soak up some sun. With your own car you can uncover different parts of the island that aren’t explored with designated group trips.

You will find no where better than the island of Barbados in terms of food will give you an exceptional culinary experience with a host of foods to choose from that will stimulate your taste buds. The chefs on the island use a diverse of bona fide dishes and join together Mediterranean, Caribbean and Eastern flavours to produce a variety of appetizing cuisines to satisfy you. So whether it is a hearty barbecue on the beach or a classy and intimate evening banquet you are sure to remember.

Barbados has a lot to offer in terms of accommodation from apartments, hotels and guest houses and they all have the latest in modern technologies. If that’s not for you and your looking for slightly more exclusive and private accommodation there are many chances to hire villas around the west coast of the island, many of which are positioned on the sea shores.
