Live Mortgage Free - You Can Do It!

By: Andy Guides

People who feel they can't live mortgage free or save on their mortgage loans unless they go homeless have got it all wrong. Unluckily, this is a big error that many people make thinking they can avoid mortgage loans.

It truly doesn't matter what all those naysayers tell you about how impossible it is to own your home and pay if off early; it's not true.

If at this point you doubt the possibility of being able to pay off your mortgage early and still afford to keep up your present financial demands, fear not; it's indeed possible. As difficult and fearful as this seems, it's neither so difficult nor fearful.

Those homeowners who took mortgage loans to buy their homes shouldn't forget that the most important thing ahead of them is repayment of that loan, before anything else -- whether they have the funds for it or not. Those who think paying off their home mortgage is all about bringing in thousands of extra dollars monthly are dead wrong. The reality is this -- paying off ones mortgage debt takes just care in planning, budget adjustment and great determination.

Are you aware that you can actually pay off your mortgage and actually own that home within 10 years? Are you wondering if there's some kind of catch here?

No, if you are willing to undergo the sacrifice, you can be mortgage debt free.

You want to know the exact nitty-gritty to making this possible?

One of the first things NOT to do is spend your tax refund each year on buying unnecessary expenses such as boats, cars and the likes. The wise thing that should be done instead is to save the money to put in repaying your mortgage loans. Pay as little as $50 to $100 dollars extra each month and you can cut off thousands of dollars from your mortgage debt.

You will be smarter if you took a fishing trip that's closer home than one which is far off on the other side of the U.S. I know that you used to travel far for your anniversary celebrations each year, but this time it will be good to celebrate it nearer home so that you can save the remaining money.

For the ladies, you will be amazed how much money you will save if you do your manicures and pedicures yourself, instead of paying for them and spa treatments each month. Reducing one's golfing from once every week to once every month can aid in paying one's mortgage earlier.

If you desire to shave off 6 whopping years from your mortgage payment years, get into the habit of paying hundreds of dollars extra all the time. People fail to realize that just paying little extra money each time they have can add up to increase their savings at the end of the day. I don't think anyone will hesitate before taking advantage of this.

Anyone that can discipline themselves to cut down on other expenses can save an extra $10 to $25, no matter how low on the minimum wage ladder they are. Consider talking to your lender so that you can increase the payment on your mortgage; that's if you can indeed afford to pay the increase. You can revert to the old payment on your mortgage, if the new increase is taking it's toll on you.

Tax refunds shouldn't be spent but should be put aside to a different account for paying your mortgage. Don't spend money in your main account for unnecessary expenses; instead, open a new account for such expenses like entertainment, vacations, groceries buying, etc. Not at all, no one is saying you should suddenly start living like a monk to pay off your mortgage early; what I'm saying is that the extra savings you will succeed in getting can help you pay off your mortgage in good time and after that you can resume on what you had to give up on. Reduce the time and money spent on entertainment, not stop it completely. Don't go out each week; make it monthly instead.

If you don't know how to, it's recommended that you learn to be moderate in your expenses so that you can have the extra money each time to pay for your mortgage loans. Do the numbers with a calculator now. I still haven't seen anyone that won't prefer to save thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars during the life of a mortgage.

The wise folks know that there's more to owning a home than selling their lives. Many other people have paid off their entire mortgage within 5 to 10 years because they followed a budget, lived on less by spending less and paid a little extra on their mortgage each month.
